Our story
The Poppinss Lush story
How a traditional South Indian household basket became a hand‑knotted heirloom — and the rural women whose hands make every one.
Our origins
In South Indian homes, the koodai carried temple flowers, market vegetables, and steel tiffin boxes. Behind this everyday object lies patient knotwork and real strength. Poppinss Lush works directly with rural women weavers in Tamil Nadu — elevated colourways, durable materials, and natural wooden grips bring the koodai to the contemporary stage.
The journey of a koodai
- Core weaving — Foundation grid with double‑knot locks for stability.
- Quality check — Symmetry, tension, handle lock, and finish — inspected node by node.
- Packing — Kraft wrap, jute twine, and a hand‑finished thank‑you tag.
- At your doorstep — Every basket carries the memory of the hands that made it.
Patti — The Original Koodai
Our master weaver learned the biscuit knot from her grandmother. Today she still inspects the weave that leaves our co‑op — passing knowledge, node by node, to a new generation.
“Every basket carries the memory of the hands that made it.”
